The AirPods Pro 3 are nearly matching their best-ever price for Amazon’s Big Spring Sale

Image
Earlier this month, Apple announced the AirPods Max 2 , a pair of over-ear headphones that leverage the company’s H2 chip for AI-powered live translation, conversation awareness, and a host of newer features. However, if you’re okay with a pair of earbuds , the AirPods Pro 3 offer access to all the same features for less — especially given they’re on sale at Amazon and Walmart for $199 ($50 off) as part of Amazon’s Big Spring Sale , matching their second-best price to date. AirPods Pro 3 Where to Buy: $249 $199 at Amazon $249 $199 at Walmart For iPhone owners, nothing else really compares to the AirPods Pro 3. Apple’s latest pair of premium earbuds deliver the best active noise cancellation and richest sound of any AirPods model to date, combined with a more comfortable, angled design that fits securely and naturally in your ear canal. They also feature a new XXS ear tip size and a more robust IP57 rating for sweat and water resistance, making them better suited for lon...

Amazon is offering up to 50 percent off chargers from Anker and others for its Big Spring Sale

Image
Amazon’s Big Spring Sale may not have been as “big” as Black Friday or even Prime Day, but depending on what you’re after, the discounts are more appealing than you might think. Take charging accessories, for instance. Anker, Twelve South, Baseus, and others have sharply lowered the prices of some of our favorite add-ons, including handsome 3-in-1 charging stands , 25,000mAh battery packs , and inexpensive Qi2 pucks . Unsurprisingly, the vast majority of the discounts are set to expire at 11:59PM PT this evening when Amazon’s spring promo officially draws to a close. However, unlike some of the recent deals we saw on Apple devices and Sonos gear , many of the deals we’re seeing on charging devices are still up for grabs — well, at least for the time being. Baseus Free2Pull Retractable USB-C Cable 100W Baseus’ slick USB-C charger supports 100W passthrough and takes a puck-like form when not in use, with male connectors on either side that retract inward with a quick tug. Meta will let you secretly watch Stories if you pay for Instagram Plus in limited test

TL;DR Meta is testing an Instagram Plus subscription service in certain global markets, including the Philippines and Mexico. Instagram Plus subscribers receive a handful of Story-based features, like longer 48-hour Stories and secretive Story viewing. The subscription service will also let users create custom audience lists for Stories separate from the Close Friends group. Subscription services are becoming a major part of social media platforms, with offerings like X Premium and Snapchat Plus providing exclusive features to paying subscribers. Meta isn’t a stranger to subscriptions , as it currently has a Meta Verified plan available starting at $14.99 per month. In exchange, Meta Verified subscribers get a blue checkmark, profile links with images, impersonation protection, and enhanced support. The feature set and price makes Meta Verified more appealing to businesses and creators than the average Instagram or Facebook user, but the company is now testing a cheaper and co...

150 million users later, Roblox competitor Rec Room is shutting down

Image
Rec Room, a Roblox-like social gaming platform that lets users create games and experiences for others to play, is shutting down on June 1st. Despite reaching more than 150 million players and creators and, at one point, being valued at $3.5 billion , the company says in a blog post that "we never quite figured out how to make Rec Room a sustainably profitable business" and that "our costs always ended up overwhelming the revenue we brought in." The company also notes that "with the recent shift in the VR market, along with broader headwinds in gaming, the path to profitability has gotten tough enough that we've made the difficult decision t … Read the full story at The Verge. from The Verge https://ift.tt/drjSp81 via IFTTT

Here are our favorite spring cleaning deals from Amazon’s Big Spring Sale

Image
Amazon’s Big Spring Sale is underway, so naturally, a lot of the deals are geared toward the season, including plenty of gadgets to help with spring cleaning. We’ve already rounded up a selection of great robot vacuum deals , but they’re just one part of a much broader swath of Verge -approved tools that can make tidying up a little easier. If you’ve been putting off small fixes around the house, now is as good a time as any to tackle them with an electric screwdriver like Hoto’s entry-level model . Meanwhile, if you’re looking to clean the dust that collects in your keyboard or along shelves, Fanttik’s electric air duster can clear it out in seconds. Then there’s Bissell’s Little Green Mini , which is great for cleaning up spills and pet stains on carpet. If you’re not interested in a high-end robot vacuum or an air purifier, rest assured that there are plenty of other useful items on sale through March 31st, from pet hair removers to reusable disclothes . YouTube quietly adds Android Auto support, but it’s not what you think

The feature requires YouTube Premium (including Premium Lite) for background audio. Google seems to be rolling out a small but useful update to YouTube on Android Auto. Image
TL;DR Gboard is working on a new feature that lets you use your Bluetooth earbuds or headphones for voice typing. Users have been asking for this convenience for years. The feature is already functional in testing, but there’s no word yet on when it will roll out publicly. Gboard is easily one of the best keyboard apps you can install on your phone. It’s packed with useful features , and if you’re using a Google Pixel, you get even more to play with, including exclusive perks like voice commands for editing dictated text and advanced voice typing tools that let you dictate multiple messages in one go. Why OpenAI really shut down Sora

OpenAI's decision last week to shut down Sora, its AI video-generation tool, just six months after releasing it to the public raised immediate suspicions. I tried Android Auto’s new kids’ games, and yes, they’re a terrible idea

Just over a year ago, Google rolled out support for a handful of games on Android Auto . This lets bored drivers and passengers in parked cars enjoy a quick round of Angry Birds 2, Beach Buggy Racing, or Candy Crush Soda Saga on the car’s dashboard. With March’s Android feature drop , Google expanded the selection to include “teacher-approved” kids’ games for children ages 3-12. But since I don’t have kids, I tried some of the games myself. I want to make my potential bias known right off the bat. As a driver who relies on Android Auto, I don’t see the need for support for kids’ games. I can give games for adults a pass — I’ve often had to wait hours in the past, and playing a mindless game is probably a great way to while away the time, but I’d be far more likely to just use my phone in this situation. Nevertheless, I wanted to give this feature a fair shot, so here we go. from Android Authority https://ift.tt/4nECbyP via IFTTT

Brendan Carr says his broadcast license threat wasn’t really about Iran war coverage

Image
Federal Communications Commission Chair Brendan Carr never meant to threaten broadcast licenses over their coverage of the war in Iran, he told reporters after an event hosted by FGS and Semafor . "My comments weren't actually on the Iran war," Carr said in response to a question from The Verge about his statement regarding coverage of the war. "I understand why people say that. I made a statement quoting a tweet." On March 14th, Carr quote-tweeted a screenshot of a Truth Social post from President Donald Trump, who had bemoaned "an intentionally misleading headline" related to the US military action in the Middle East. David Sacks is no longer the White House AI and Crypto Czar

Image
David Sacks, the venture capitalist and tech billionaire who'd become Silicon Valley's primary advocate inside the White House and a key architect of its aggressive AI policy initiatives, revealed on Thursday that he was no longer a special government employee - and therefore no longer President Donald Trump's Special Advisor on AI and Crypto. Sacks' official status as an SGE allowed him to work simultaneously in the private sector and for the government, but for no more than 130 days, raising questions about why he was still in the job more than a year after his appointment. Intel and LG Display may have beaten Apple and Qualcomm with the best laptop battery life ever

Image
One of the coolest laptops we saw at CES in January was the new Dell XPS 16, with a unique 1-120Hz variable refresh rate display that can sip power when you don't need the screen to stay speedy. Just how little power might it consume? Notebookcheck has tested a version of the laptop with that LG Display screen and a new Intel Panther Lake chip - and it appears to be the most efficient laptop that's ever gone through its Wi-Fi web browsing test. At idle, the Core Ultra 325 laptop drew as little as 1.5 watts, and lasted nearly 27 hours of web browsing despite only housing a 70 watt-hour pack. That's well shy of the 99.5Wh Dell has sometimes … Read the full story at The Verge. from The Verge https://ift.tt/UjzKRHY via IFTTT
